Project String Quartet’s visit to Melbourne Junior school, featuring two educational presentations, was presented alongside a performance in Melbourne Festival’s International Chamber Music Concert, presented by the Friends of Melbourne Parish Church.

 

Evening Concert - 22 September 20211

International viola player Graham Oppenheimer and his international colleagues performed string quintets by Mozart and Dvorak in the beautiful Norman Parish Church. Joined by local young musician and soprano, Grace Crocker for songs by Schubert, the full programme featured:

Mozart String Quintet in G minor K 516
Schubert 3 Songs for Soprano and String Quartet
Dvorak String Quintet in E flat op 97

The day after the concert, the four instrumentalists ran workshops for Year 6 pupils at Melbourne Junior School.

Educational Presentations - 23 September 2021

PSQ presented a series of interactive educational presentations to Melbourne Junior school’s year 5 and 6 students, featuring mini-concerts for each presentation. These interactive sessions involved asking questions of the children, demonstrating and explaining what we do as professional musicians, explaining and performing sections of 2 contrasting pieces, asking for observations and presenting a TV theme tunes rhythm quiz.
