A Project String Quartet Boosted Visit is a three day project working with an International Artist and a Young Professional Quartet, featuring a formal evening concert and up to a further eight activities of your choosing across the three days.
Extra Activities
Three Day Visits and Residencies offer a wider range of PSQ activities to select from. These activities span over the course of two days and focus on group performances with different school ensembles.
Young String Orchestra Project
Your schools string players will be involved in a performance of Russel Keable's “Fanfare and Song” for Young String Orchestra (of varying levels of ability) and string quartet.
This activity includes two rehearsal sessions with the Young Professional Quartet, culminating in a school concert performance and elements of explained performance by the quartet to benefit the students in the audience.
This activity is only available as part of the Three Day Visit or Residency.
Children's Choir Project
Students will be involved in a performance of Richard Rodney Bennett's ‘The Insect World’, 4 songs for children’s choir and string quartet.
This activity includes two rehearsal sessions with the Young Professional Quartet, culminating in a school concert performance and elements of explained performance by the quartet to benefit the students in the audience.
This activity is only available as part of the Three Day Visit or Residency.
Collaborative Music Creation Workshop
A Young Professional Quartet and an animateur will lead a collaborative music creation workshop with a groups of students of any age to compose a number of pieces over the course of 2/3 days, culminating in a concert event performed by the students and the quartet.
This is a very open event, inclusive of non-music students, and can also be a way of involving three or more separate groups from a family of local schools.

PLanning Your Visit
Our team are on hand to provide any help that you need in creating the best experience possible for your students. Throughout your project, experienced music educationalist and International Artist Graham Oppenheimer will be in close contact with you to provide guidance and assist in the smooth running of each visit across the course of the residency.
To give you an idea of the structure of a school visit, below is an example of a three-day schedule. The timings of each activity can be tailored to fit around your school timetable. Please note that on the day of the formal evening concert, the morning or the afternoon session will be used to string quartet rehearsals.
